I want to get a feel for how many are out there, if any.
Thanks! |

I take it you only want public servers posted right? I am setting up a private one for my friends and I, but I am not sure its the server you were looking for |

Hi,
I have tried setting up a Terrarium 1.2 Server. But I havn't managed to get it working.
I installed MSDE and ISS before configuring the Terrarium Server instance.
Try the following URL: http://box.dyndns.dk/Terrarium/default.aspx
It would be nice if you can give me any advice on how to make it work.

Did you install IIS after .NET 1.1? If so, you'll need to register the ASP.Net functionality by running aspnet_regiis.exe which can be found in the Framework directory. Check the various options available to make sure you configure it correctly. The default that most people use is "-i", which will register ASP.Net for all web applications on the server. |

Thanks. That seemed to do the trick.
Apart from the user error with IIS I think it was easy to get the Terrarium server running.
Anyone who wants to use my Terrarium server can do so.. :o) |

Hi again,
I have a quick question regarding the default.aspx page. If you navigate to the http://box.dyndns.dk/Terrarium/default.aspx you'll see the Peers (in the Server Status box) says 0. But I know there are at least one peer active.
It's been running like this for approx. a day. Do I have to do something to refresh the Server Status box? |

Hi Finn,
I just connected to your Terrarium server, and it works fine! Now I can finally let my herbivore 'Itch' run free ;)
I guess you're running the only working Terrarium server at the moment. Are there still people out there playing the game????
I noticed the charts are not working (may 'write' rights are needed on a specific folder?)

Hi just to let you know I've managed to get a local (intranet) Terrarium server running at work. I had some fun with .NET versions; I thought I'd try out .NET 2 beta 2 with client and server as they're meant to be mostly backwards compatible, but it didn't work out too well! Otherwise, apart from having to search out how to use ASP.NET versions in parallel there were no major problems.

Hi,
The box which hosted my Terrarium Server has crached. So, my Terrarium Server will be down until I get hold of a new mainboard! |

Bummer, this means that there is no Terrarium Server running at this moment....
Well, I guess I'll be seeing you again when Terrarium 2.0 hits the road (WinFx version).

I finally got the correct Terrarium Server installed and running on my machine. Now, I'm working on exposing it publicly. I didn't have a static IP address and when my ISP gave me one they messed up my LAN (walked my wife through the configuration). Aaaaargh! I'll try to fix it this weekend. |

Good news! Please keep us informed. |

It's up! I had a little time last night and things went well. Since it's not running on a dedicated server I may need to limit the number of clients. I'm going to do this by not publishing the URL. If you would like to attach your client, email me and I'll send you the link.
PS: NO symbiotic carnivore / herbivore pairs allowed! I'll blacklist em. ;o) |
