Big Bug Question

I'm trying to determine whether or not my bug has enough energy to grow (because in order to grow from a radius of 16 to 17 it has to move away from it's food source).  My question is this.  Is the determination of whether or not there is enough energy to grow made before or after a) the bug gets energy from taking a bite  b) the bug uses energy to heal  c) the bug uses energy to move d) the bug uses energy to incubate?  Thanks.

How about I just give you the order things happen and you can make a better decision? Things that start with an asterisk use energy.

* Burn Base Energy
Attack
Defend
Change Movement Direction
* Move Creatures
Eat
* Grow
* Incubate
Start Reproductions
Heal

This doesn't take into account things that happen before we get into the game engine. Some checks occur as actions are taken in terms of validation. These checks wind up happening before things like burn base energy.
