There's been lots of publicity regarding the changes in VS2010, but I don't see anything about WinForms. Can we expect any new features?
Even if there are no new features, there must be bug fixes as I've had a number of long standing WinForms bugs resolved as fixed on Connect. Will a list of the fixes be made available?

Microsoft is spending its resources on WPF instead as the newest windows libraries. I don't know about bug fixes. www.insteptech.com- Marked As Answer byLinda LiuMSFT, ModeratorThursday, May 28, 2009 8:32 AM

I seriously doubt the release version is going to be any different, the WF group at MSFT has been disbanded a while ago. Are you sure the WinForms team has been disbanded? I found a comment on Soma's blog from the WinForms GM which suggests the team is still alive and well:
We continue to invest in WinForms for .NET FX 4. This includes the core expectation of maintaining compatibility for applications already written in WinForms, fixing bugs that developers have reported, contributing to overall developer experiences across Visual Studio, as well as perf work and some feature development.

Also, just the other day, I saw something interesting in a video on Channel 9 by Scott Guthrie (which is what prompted me to return to this thread). He mentioned that they are still investing in WinForms, but he didn't go into details.
So it doesn't look like WinForms has been put out to pasture quite yet. Hopefully more details will emerge once Beta 2 is released. | | Daniel Smith Wednesday, October 07, 2009 11:11 AM |
