Anyone know what this refers to? I get it when my HL2 games freezes.
The instruction at "0x241f94b7" referenced memory at "0x01080cc0" could not be "read" |

hl2 bug, you got a memory leak, one problem with C++, you have to allocate and deallocate memory, there's no garbage collector |

it could also be faulty ram or video card. |

yeah - more likely the video card.
Darn hard to tell.
On the topic of Hl2, certain buttons (like fire) stop working completely making it unplayable. I've reinstalled hl2, maybe its the developer sdk.
That was frustrating, I googled for a long time - no luck :(
at least CS still works |

Got a new graphics card 2 weeks ago (Radeon 9600 XT 128mb) The memory sticks are about 12 months old so I guess it could be that. Any apps to check it out? |

I get the exact same message including the exact same memory locations. I have a geforce card so since you mention you're running radeon I think we can assume the videocard isn't the culprit.

could be directx, drivers, or something like that too. That's the steam preferred troubleshooting steps.

This is no problem, this is power. And power comes with duties and responsabilities - the more power you have, the more can go wrong if you make a mistake. Just like in the real world. If you want, you can use things similar to a garbage collector in C++, it's just not part of the language itself. |
