Office Vba versus .net windows forms

Hello All

I'm trying to convince a client wich has a necessity of automating some industrial processes wich envolve storing large amounts of data, some hardware connection to measuring machines and info exchange with excell and statistical software. The client wants to use ms office only. The best solution for him is a .Net windows application with a sql server database. How can I convince him?

thanks in advance

It doesn't help me much, what I want to know is of all those caracteristics of the enviromnemt can be fullfiled with vba namely:

  •  hardware connection to measuring machines
  • database capacity of access versus sql server
