Proxy authentication required 407

Hi

Has anyone found a workaround for proxy authentication yet ? (Having a proxy server that requires authentication ex. Linux proxy server)

Seems as if nothing has been done by MS regarding this. I've found an article mentioning that VS 2008 now resolves this issue but am not simply going to waste time installing until I'm convinced. (Is this a MS plot to sell new versions !!!) I've got a trail ... butneed proof first(I have wasted more time on this than any otherissueEVER and we are totally happy with VS 2005 for now) .

How does VS 2008 resolve this issue since it seems to me as if it is .NET Framework related. Should this not mean that I can use VS 2005 also. My clients (ONLY having .NET Framework- How can a VS 2008 application be different with ClickOnce) are dowloading an application that Icould deploy using MAGEUI (Assume VS 2008 also has this) - Where does VS 2008 come in.

This is the last attempt before moving to a other deployment technology. (Has not been resolved in +- 3 years - we use corporate clients with loads of proxies). We hoped .NET Framework 2 SP 1 would resolve this issue (ClickOnce is part of Framework 2 or does3.5 extend it ?? - Another plot to force users onto 3.5 ?? More downloads etc. etc.) Can't wait 3 years again for a SP and MAYBE having issue resolved.

PLEASE HELP - Perhaps Microsoft can also try to answer/explain this 3+ year unresolved issue for once !!!!

By the way

* Hotfixnever seemed towork (Assume this is now built into .NET 2 SP 1)

* Editing machne.config is also usesless unless it can be given a username and password or force some popup forauthentication.

Regards

I have a workaround, it won't help with the inital install but it will handle updates:
