Manifest files deleted and nothing works! Help!!

I was browsing my system when I shouldn't have. I read some warnings against messing with the sxs files, but I did it anyways. Now I've deleted things in the thousands that I heard wouldn't matter and I have no idea what to do. I get the error "The application has failed to start because it side-by-side configuration is incorrect. Please see the application event log or use the command-line sxstrace.exe tool for more details." I really don't know what to do.
Also, I have Windows 7, all applicatins are getting the same error, and nothing that I've tried to install has been processable. I tried vcredist_x86(2).exe and the same error occurs. The same thing happens for every "fix" that I have found while on the hunt for this solution.

I don't know what the sxs files are, but have you tried repairing the .NET 3.5 Framework? If you go to Microsoft and search for .NEt 3.5 downloads and run the installation again, you can repair it. You might also have to repair windows; just put in your windows cd and ask it to repair (it should ask you).
