how to make an exe which is custom action return values to installer?

hi all,

i am trying to include a .exe as custom action i have successfully done that.But after its execution it has to return a value of 0 indicating success otherwise installer progressbar is stuck and installation doesnt finish, but waits infinitely.

can u plz help me how to do this.
